Get feedback on your coaching

It's no big deal to coach another coach, right? Once you've done it once, you hardly get phased by it anymore, let alone when you've done it 4 or 5 times!

If you've reached the point where you're coaching other coaches like normal clients (after all, that's all they are), the next step for you in your professional development is to get another coach to hear you coach a normal, non-coach client and give you specific feedback on your coaching skills.

This is what we refer to as mentoring, and it's not just something you do when you're applying for certification. Even though it is very useful in preparing for an oral certification exam, getting mentoring feedback is a necessary and ongoing part of your professional development.

In the past, ongoing mentoring could be expensive, costing about the same price as coaching. However, since mentoring is now part of the ReciproCoach program, there is no reason why you can't engage in mentoring whenever you like. Plus, because it's reciprocal, you get the added bonus of giving mentoring to another coach. It's well known that mentors often receive more from the process than the mentees do!

Did you know that ReciproCoach runs a mentoring round at least once a quarter? That means you have at least 4 opportunities per year to get feedback on your actual coaching skills. Each round includes three hours of giving and receiving mentoring:

    Hour 1:
Mentor listens to up to one hour of the mentee coaching a normal client

    Hour 2:
Mentor writes 500 words minimum (about as much as this email) of specific feedback

    Hour 3:
Mentor coaches mentee around specific feedback and other related issues for one hour

Our reciprocal mentoring system is based on a difference model, rather than one of expert-novice. We'll aim to match you with a mentor who can give you a different perspective on your coaching. For example, if you're a Results coach, you could learn a lot from being mentored by a CTI coach, and vice-versa. CTI coaches deepen Results coaches' listening skills and Results coaches boost CTI coaches' accountability skills. Similarly, many business coaches could learn a lot from being mentored (and mentoring) life coaches, while many life coaches could get quite a few pointers from business coaches.

Each ReciproCoach mentoring round is streamed for experience. You join the round that matches your experience and therefore get a mentor and mentee of similar experience, and you use your difference in training, expertise and experience to extend each other's skills.

The next mentoring round starts early next month. To join, login to the members area and go to MENTORING >>> REGISTER. You'll see the round suitable for your experience listed and just need to click on "Register Now".
