How ReciproCoach coaching works

Reciprocal coaching partnerships happen in rounds. When you are ready to have a new coach, you join a coaching round that suits your needs. Most coaching rounds include eight hours of coaching (sometimes more, sometimes less), both as a coach and a client, and span anything from two to six months.

Some coaching rounds are open to coaches with particular experience or expertise, so that only coaches with similar experience or expertise may join. Other coaching rounds are open to all coaches and participants enjoy a “lucky dip”, opening themselves up to letting “the universe” decide who they need, regardless of coaching technicalities. Similarly, some coaching rounds are open to coaches all over the world. If you’re keen to add “international coaching” to your CV, you might join a round like this, or if you’d prefer to have a coach from your own area, you might wait for a round that has been created especially for coaches from the same location.

In any case, when you register for a round, you are asked to provide information about the kind of coach you’d like to be matched with. If you’re keen to get a particular kind of coach, be very specific. But if you like surprises, you can simply skip this part of the registration process altogether and the coordinator of your round, the “match-maker”, together with a dash of “Divine intervention”, will see that you get just the coach you need, even if you didn’t know what it was you needed! This is the beauty of the ReciproCoach Community.

Once you’ve got your matches, you begin reciprocal coaching: you coach and in return, get coached, or for many, you get coached and in return, get to coach another coach. Often the experience coaching a particular coach is equally, if not more rewarding, than being coached by the coach! Even if it is a bit daunting to begin with, most coaches find they love coaching other coaches. They often make the most delightful clients!

At the end of your reciprocal coaching partnerships, you are asked to provide feedback on your whole ReciproCoach experience, as well as on your ReciproCoach and ReciproClient. This feedback is viewable from coaches’ public profiles, should they wish to display it and makes for wonderful testimonials. If you loved your ReciproCoach or ReciproClient so much that you can’t bear to part ways, you can agree to join another coaching round together and request that your coordinator match you together again. In this way, it is possible to have the same beloved coach, year in, year out.
