Introduction to Melanie Parish

Growing up in New Mexico, Melanie Parish knew no ethnic majority, and saw firsthand what collaboration and diversity give a culture. This experience and appreciation is embedded in her work in organizations and as founder of Sage Portfolio Group, specializing in helping people work together, work in teams and function optimally as an organization. As a child, Melanie was always a go-getter as the top seller of Girl Scout cookies and calendars, had the most pledges at the local MS walk-a-thon, and sold greeting cards for “fun” (and spending money) during summer vacations. She studied Communication at the University of New Mexico, and was fascinated by small group theory and intercultural communication classes. After graduation, Melanie spent 10 years in the greater Denver Colorado area excelling in sales. She worked for a Fortune 500 company, generating $500,000/mo in revenue and opened several new territories for a food distributor. And she didn’t stop there. Melanie was consistently a top office producer in the financial services industry and served as Director for a federally funded non-profit. In 1998, Melanie became a coach. She believes there is nothing more fulfilling than a person working well at a job they love. She is passionate about helping individuals and companies find and work within their “sweet spot”. She will be applying for her MCC in September. Melanie currently lives in Dundas, Ontario with her family on two acres overlooking the Niagara escarpment.

What does "Approved" mean?

Close

An "Approved Coach" is someone who has completed a requisite number of hours specifically in coaching training with a verified coach training provider. An "Approved Student" is someone who has completed some specific coach training, but has not yet completed the requisite number of hours.

Coach training is verified by ReciproCoach, an international community of coaches who coach coaches. A coach's membership to this community, especially if they have recent feedback displayed below their profile, is the ultimate guarantee of the competency of a coach. Not only does it demonstrate their ability to coach another coach, but it is also a testament to their professional credibility as a coach who regularly engages in the process of being coached, thereby advancing their own personal and professional development.

Note: Coach training is different to training in any other helping service, including counselling, consultancy and training and development. All "Approved Coaches" and "Approved Students" have be trained to facilitate coaching as a process in its own right. Coaching can be defined as, "a goal-directed, multi-faceted process for enhancing people, work and life" (Griffiths, 2008).
