What makes team coaching sessions productive?

Ask most coaches what makes a session productive, and the answer usually circles back to the agreement. Did we do what we set out to do? For years, that has been the yardstick, in team coaching as much as in one-to-one work.

This issue of Coaching Research in Practice looks at a study that challenges that yardstick. It asks what team coaches and team members actually experience as helpful, and shines a light on contradictions and debates that coaching and coaches have wrestled with for many years.

The study and article land on a paradox that has real implications for all of us, individual and team coaches alike, and how we measure coaching value.
