Introduction to Kerryn Griffiths

The world is changing at an ever-accelerating pace. Women and men no longer have clear-cut roles and intimate and family relationships are not so straight-forward. No more do we do the same job our entire working lives. Does anyone even do the same job for one decade? Contemporary life is fast-paced and demanding and there's more freedom and choice than ever before. Put these together and you can experience a lack of clarity and direction, as well as feelings of dissatisifaction and/or emptiness because some of your boxes just aren't being ticked. The truth is, most adults simply have not learnt to navigate their way through the complexity of contemporary life. The necessary skills were not taught in school and our parents had no idea what was in store for us. We emerge as adults full of habits, values and beliefs that don't necessarily support us, and we don't know how to un-learn the old to make room for the new. Coaching teaches us to how to gain more clarity around our circumstances, making us better equipped to identify and move in a direction that addresses and meets all of our needs. Then, by holding us accountable to honouring ourselves and moving in that direction, coaching ensures that all of our boxes get ticked, allowing us to stop struggling and start enjoying the ride with all of the rewards it brings.

What does "Approved" mean?

Close

An "Approved Coach" is someone who has completed a requisite number of hours specifically in coaching training with a verified coach training provider. An "Approved Student" is someone who has completed some specific coach training, but has not yet completed the requisite number of hours.

Coach training is verified by ReciproCoach, an international community of coaches who coach coaches. A coach's membership to this community, especially if they have recent feedback displayed below their profile, is the ultimate guarantee of the competency of a coach. Not only does it demonstrate their ability to coach another coach, but it is also a testament to their professional credibility as a coach who regularly engages in the process of being coached, thereby advancing their own personal and professional development.

Note: Coach training is different to training in any other helping service, including counselling, consultancy and training and development. All "Approved Coaches" and "Approved Students" have be trained to facilitate coaching as a process in its own right. Coaching can be defined as, "a goal-directed, multi-faceted process for enhancing people, work and life" (Griffiths, 2008).
