I've heard that you can get matched up to be coached by a coach with the same credentials as you. For example, a PCC can get matched up to be coached by another PPC. Is this right?

Yes. Several times a year we run rounds exclusively for coaches who have achieved certification with particular professional associations, including ACC, PCC and MCC rounds. When these rounds are open for registration all ReciproCoaches with that certification receive email notification.

I know a coach who is registered for the same round as me and I would prefer to coach and be coached by someone I don't know. Can you make sure that I don't get matched up with this coach?

Yes. When you fill in your preferences for a coach/mentor, under "Special Requests" tell your coordinator who you would prefer not to be matched up with. If you have already registered and submitted your preferences, you can also edit your preferences any time up until the round closes by logging into the members area and going to your "Manage" page under the Coaching, Mentoring or Supervision menu. If all else fails, you may also email the coordinator of your round directly (although wherever possible, it's best to make a requests via the website). You can get the contact details of your coordinator from their profile in the members area.

How do I know if I'm registered for a round?

If you've been through the registration process, then you can check your registration by going to the "Manage" page under the relevant Coaching, Mentoring or Supervision menu. All rounds for which you are registered and/or participating in appear on your management page.

I am looking to partner with coaches who have the same training/religion/age as me. What should I do?

You can note this in the special requests section during registration. After registering, you can also view the profiles of other coaches in the same round and submit specific requests to be partnered with those who match your preferences.

What does the "3 coaches" statement mean on the student round?

What if I only want a coach in my own country?

When you register for a round you have the opportunity to state your preferences for a coach, including which country/region you'd prefer your coach to be located in. Where ever possible we will try to give you a coach in your preferred location, however, we cannot guarantee this within international rounds. Several times a year, we run rounds especially for coaches in a particular region/country. If you absolutely want a coach in your country, we recommend that you join one of these rounds. If you would like one of these rounds, please let your coordinator know.

When I tried to sign up for a coaching round, I received a message saying that I was only eligible for the student coaching round.

If, in your profile, you answered "Student" to the question "For how many years have you been coaching?" the system will only let you join a student round. If you have completed at least 50 hours of coach specific training, you can get full coach approval. However, if you're a new coach, you'll need to make sure that you have at least 10 hours of coaching hours accrued before you can join a standard round.

When does a round start?

When you join a round, it specifies the start date. On or before this date, you will receive a match-maker email with details of your matched partners. Your round will involve weekly, fortnightly (every second week) or monthly sessions. Once you receive the details of your matched partners you can go ahead and schedule your sessions aiming to complete by the round end date that is specified at round registration. The process is different for group supervision however, which involves a series of monthly group meetings by teleconference.

How do rounds work?

When you join a round, you'll be asked for your preferences on the kind of coach/mentor you'd like to be matched with. You also have an opportunity to make requests for particular coaches/mentors before the round starts. You are then assigned a coach/mentor and a client/mentee (two different people). You then go ahead and give the number of hours of coaching/mentoring specified in the round you have joined and in turn receive the same number of hours 8 hours any time between the start and end date for the round.

When do student/new coaches rounds start?

Student/new coaches rounds start as soon as there are enough registered coaches to enable favorable matching. This usually happens within a month, however, it can be quicker, especially if you let your student/new coaching colleagues know about the opportunity. If you do let other coaches know about ReciproCoach and you'd rather not be matched with a coach you already know, just email the coordinator of the round or edit your preferences via your management page by making a "Special Request" not to be matched up with certain people.

I already know a coach who registered for my round and I don't want to be matched up with this person? What do I do?

If you'd rather not be matched with a coach you already know, all you need to do is edit your preferences via your dashboard by making a "Special Request" NOT to be matched up with certain people. Click on the name of a round and choose the option “Edit registration” from the action list. Alternatively, you may also email the coordinator of the round, however, if possible, it is best to submit all your preferences via the online system.

How do I sign up for the student round?

I signed up and paid for a coaching round two weeks ago. The round is about to start and I have not yet heard from you. What should I do?

This is normal. One week prior to a round starting you should receive an email telling you to submit some requests for coaches who you'd like to be matched with. Matching is done in the last 3 days prior to a round starting. You may receive your matches on or just before the start date. The start date is the date at which you begin contacting your matches and the actual coaching/mentoring/supervision typically begins one or two weeks after that, depending on your and your partners' availability, as you schedule your own sessions.

Will I get enough advance notice for the round start so that I do not miss the round?

Most rounds have a start date, though there are some rounds which have a TBD (To Be Determined) start date. For these rounds, you will receive an email with your matches and extra time will be added to the round completion date so that you have enough time to contact your matches and schedule sessions. If you have any problems, you can email your coordinator.

How does it work if I live overseas or travel a lot?

You can participate in ReciproCoach from wherever you are, as long as you can access the internet and phone. You’ll also need to be available to give and receive coaching sessions in privacy.

You mentioned 30 minute rounds. I'd very much like to be part of this but don't see it on the website.

Are we able to look at other coaches in our rounds?

I registered for a round but now I can't participate. How do I withdraw from a round?

You can withdraw from a peer coaching round at any time prior to the registration closing date, and your registration fee will be credited to your ReciproCoach account. Please note that as places are limited for group mentoring and supervision sessions, your place is confirmed upon registration. If you cannot attend and give us at least 3 weeks' notice, you may email us and if we manage to fill your space prior to the session taking place, we will be able to transfer your registration to another round.

To withdraw from a peer coaching round prior to the registration closing date, simply go to the dashboard. From this page, click on the round listed that you want to withdraw from. Select withdraw from Action list. It will ask you if you're sure and if you say yes, you'll be withdrawn. joined the Student/New Coaches Round 2-3 weeks ago and have not had any response in relation to this. Why?

The student/new coaches rounds begin as soon as there are enough coaches registered to enable matching. Normally this shouldn't take more than 3-4 weeks. Sometimes it can happen in days or just one week. If you know any student/new coaches, you might want to let them know about it and then just let your coordinator know if you’d prefer not to be matched with them.  If you've been waiting more than 3 weeks, email your coordinator to find out what the situation is.

I don't know who I've been matched with. Who is my coach? Who is my client? Who is my mentor? Who is my mentee?

If you have not received this email, you can also view your matches via the dashboard. Select “View Participants” or “View Partners” from the Action list associated with the relevant round. You will see the profiles of your matches there and can get all of their contact details from their profiles.

How do I make requests for coaches?

To make requests to be matched with specific coaches, go to the dashboard. Identify the round for which you'd like to submit requests, and from the action menu, click on "Request coaches". You will always get someone whose availability coincides with your availability. They may not be in your time zone per se, but your availability will always coincide. How can I 'shop around' or see who is in a round before I join it?

You can't. The only way to see who is in a round is to join it yourself. We encourage you to register early and then make a note in your calendar to check the weekend before your round is due to start - by doing this, you have the best chance of seeing all the registered participants, including those who sign up at the last minute, and can submit some preferred coach requests.

I’m a certified NLP Practitioner. Can I request an NLP certified coach?

You can, but whether or not we can give you an NLP coach depends on who registers for the round.

How do I request coaches?

To make requests to be matched with specific coaches, go to the dashboard. Identify the round for which you'd like to submit requests, and from the action menu, click on "Request coaches". Can I join a round in another language?

Yes, as long as you have near-native fluency in that language. Just click on the flag in the top right hand corner to see rounds in other languages. You will also need to ensure that the language of the round is selected in your profile as one of your languages and that you translate your profile heading and introduction into that language by clicking on the relevant flag.

Is there any way I can coach two people in a coaching round?

Yes, you just need to register twice. Having said that, as it is reciprocal peer coaching, with a second client, you will also receive a second coach. Some people are able to work with two coaches at the same time by working with each coach on very specific and different projects e.g. one coach for work related issues and another coach life related issues. You will need to determine whether you have the time and bandwidth to work with two coaches at the same time.

I selected one prospective coach as it looked like there were very few coaches in this round and I only saw one coach who met my requests. What happens if there aren't matches for everyone?

If a round currently has only a few coaches registered, remember, check back in another few days to see if there are new coaches registered who would make for a good fit. It is better if we have more than one request, because if everyone requests the same person, then the requests aren't all that helpful. If we can't give you your own request, we will then revert to the preferences you specified when you joined and try to match you with someone who meets one or more of those.

If there is no match, what happens from there?

We usually always have enough coaches for suitable matching - if ever the matches aren't quite right, we also recruit extra coaches especially to fill the gaps.

I don't know who my peer coaching partners are. How do I find out who I'm supposed to be coaching with?

All matching is completed one or two days before, or on the round start date. If this date has already passed, and you still have not received email notification of your peer coaching partners, check your SPAM or junk mail folder. If you don't find the email there, send an email to the coordinator, so that we can troubleshoot to ensure you are receiving our emails. In any case, when matching is complete, you can see your partners by logging into the members and selecting "View matches" from the Action list associated with the round on your dashboard. This page will display the profiles of both of your partners.

How do I change my preferences after I have registered for a round.

What happens if I don't submit any requests?

If you don’t manage to submit any requests, we will look at your preferences and match you with a suitable client.

What do I do if there aren't many coaches to choose from who are available at the same time as me?

Typically, quite a few coaches register in the last few days. What we tend to recommend is to set a reminder in your calendar for the last day of registration, and on that day, most if not everyone will be registered. Then if there should be several coaches available at the same time as you, and if not, you might like to consider expanding your availability if possible, or you can still withdraw before the registration closing date.

Why have I been assigned two coaches?

You will be assigned two different peer partners in every reciprocal peer coaching round. One person is your assigned coach and the other is your assigned client. You cannot coach and be coached by the same person, as it usually results in ethical dilemmas.

What are standard rounds/sessions?

Standard rounds/sessions happen repeatedly and regularly throughout each year and are eligible for registration using membership credits. In contrast, non-standard rounds/sessions usually happen as a once-off special opportunity within the year and typically feature something special such as an external resource or mentor.
