ReciproCoach does not provide "training" per se. All ReciproCoaches have already completed coaching training and then come to APPLY their LEARNING and continue and extend their professional development through reciprocal coaching, mentoring and supervision with us.

No. ReciproCoach is open to ALL coaches.

If your training is not among the list, simply add it using the “other” box below the list.

I am not sure how to answer the question about my coaching experience.

We consider two factors when identifying your coaching experience: years and hours. The years coaching usually begins when you first trained as a coach. In some more historical cases, some veteran coaches started coaching before they did any training. If this is you, you need to consider whether what you were doing before you completed coach training was actually coaching (in many cases, it was actually consulting, and that is not considered coaching experience). In terms of your coaching hours, this is the actual coaching time you have spent in sessions with clients, doing coaching. Again, if you have a disciplinary practice, only the coaching sessions you actually coached are considered coaching hours.

You limit expertise to 5 - I have so many years of experience I have many more than 5.

We limit the expertise (and other other aspects of the profile) to 5, so that people choose their 5 major areas of expertise etc. Otherwise people end up ticking everything and the profiles get too long. Most coaches also have a professional website, where they have much more detail about their coaching.  Our profiles are just intended to be summaries, but if you include your professional website in your ReciproCoach profile, anyone who wants more information can go to your website.

How do I start?

The easiest way to start is simply to login to the members area and follow the guide to fill in your profile and register for a round. If you have already passed this point, then all you need to do is login to the members area and click on “Register” below the “Coaching”, "Mentoring" or "Supervision" menus (depending on what you want) and then choose the round that suits your availability.

What do I put down for my certification in my profile?

Currently, our website only lists certification provided by professional associations such as the ICF, the IAC or the AC. If you have been certified as part of your coach training program, you may list it there using the "other" boxes.

I have updated the hours on my profile, but the change does not appear when I view my profile.

You may have to refresh your browser and hold down the shift key at the same time so that it doesn’t load a saved version of the page you are looking at. Sometimes browsers save certain parts of web pages so they don't have to download the same thing again and again and this can be why you are certain that you did something, but still can't see the change you made.

How do I change the photo on my profile?

In the members area, under the Profile menu, click on "Edit Profile". Uploading the photo is the last step (click on picture). Note that after you have uploaded your new photo, you may need to refresh the page while holding down the SHIFT key in order to see the updated photo. To go directly to the relevant page, follow this link: http://www.reciprocoach.com/profile/edit.

I am new to coaching. What would be the best way for me to utilize Reciprocoach?

Making the most of ReciproCoach depends on your needs. If it’s practice coaching you want, join a coaching round, or even two. This also allows you to receive the same amount of coaching in return for the coaching you give. It’s a great learning tool to be coached by a coach with a different style.

There’s also
mentoring, which allows you to get direct feedback on your coaching – essential for developing mastery. In this process, you also mentor another coach, which usually provides even deeper learning and being mentored yourself.

Finally, if you need a space to talk about your own coaching experiences and share with other professional coaches, join a
supervision round. It’s a safe space for coaches to talk about their own professional practice confidentially.

I have pending approval so I can't register for a round.

You can still register for rounds, even if your approval has not been processed. As long as you have submitted your application for approval and register for your chosen round, your round registration will be processed automatically when your approval is processed. You will receive notification by email when this happens.

My profile is upside down. How do I turn it around?

You must've uploaded a photo that was saved upside. Instead, just use a photo that has been saved the right way up!

What do I need to get approved?

There are two types of approval: "Approved Student" or "Approved Coach"

If you have done more than 30 hours of coach specific training, then you qualify for "Approved Coach" status, as long as you can provide the details of the course you completed including a website where the course is advertised and an email address that we can use for verification that bears the same domain name as the website. If you don't have these, we will require a copy of your course completion certificate.

If you have done between 10 and 30 hours of coach specific training, then you qualify for "Approved Student" status. This means that you can join student/new coach coaching rounds, as well as some supevision and mentoring rounds.

I do not have a certification in coaching but a Master's degree in expressive arts therapy and now do workshop facilitation and individual coaching. May I join?

We understand that there are many avenues to becoming a good coach. You can join our community, but, in order to get approved and participate, we will need to verify somehow that you can indeed coach. If you find yourself in this situation, please contact us so we can arrange alternative approval methods.

I have my NLP Practitioner Certificate but none of the options in the Approvals certification menu apply to me. Can I still get coach approval?

In the Get Approved screen, choose the "other" option (see below) and then enter the details of the training you have completed. We do grant full approval to coaches who have done more than 30 hours NLP training.

What is the difference between ReciproCoach and ICF Reciprocal Peer Coaching?

ReciproCoach is providing a reciprocal peer > coaching program for the ICF. The benefit of this for ICF members is > that, when participating through ICF Reciprocal Peer Coaching you > can be guaranteed that all members in every round will be ICF > members. That's the main benefit. It's an exclusive community. > Also, a key differences is that with ICF you just pay per round > that you join. In some ways, that's simpler. > > On the other hand, ReciproCoach still has memberships, so if you > participate more often, it does end up working out a little cheaper. > Also, ReciproCoach does mentoring and supervision, in addition to > coaching. ReciproCoach also provides resources. > > Note that ReciproCoach memberships and ICF payments are not > interchangeable. They are exclusive communities and are financially > independent of each other. > > Our aim is to get as many > coaches as possible walking the talk i.e. engaging in coaching > themselves. Doing this through a trusted association like the ICF > has helped us accelerate our progress towards this vision.

Does NLP Training apply as coach specific training?

The ICF defines coach specific training as:

>> Training that is accepted as coach specific training:

>>Training from an Accredited Coach Training Program (ACTP) or a program that has received the ICF Approved Coach Specific Training Hours (ACSTH) designation

>> Training from a Continuing Coach Education (CCE) Provider, subject to these limitations:

>> All hours approved in Core Competencies will be accepted

>> A maximum of 25 hours outside of the Core Competencies will be accepted

>> Training that is specifically marketed as teaching coaching skills, that teaches coaching skills or teaches how to apply technical skills in a coach-like manner and teaches coaching skills in accordance with the ICF Core Competencies

>> Training that is not accepted as coach specific training:

>> Training that is marketed as teaching other skills, even though the skills can be used by a coach in some manner

>> Personal development courses (such as Forum, Landmark, Lifespring, Life Training, Science of the Mind, etc.)

>> Education in other areas such as psychology, counseling, NLP, etc., does not count as coach specific training unless it was actually taught as coach training and from an ICF Core Competencies’ perspective
